Alex Hunter
Alex draws on her lived and learned experience to work in mental health & neurodivergent training and consultancy. She has experience using mental health services for an eating disorder and acquired neurodiversity, C-PTSD and brings this lived experience lens into the work she does in the areas of peer support, coproduction, Peer Leadership and Inclusion.
In 2018 she achieved a distinction in the MSc in Mental Health Recovery and Social Inclusion and in 2024 a distinction in a postgraduate qualification in Peer Supported Open Dialogue. She began her career in mental health working as a peer support worker in the voluntary and statutory sector before moving into being Head of Peer Support, Training and Talking therapies.
For the past 2 years, she has worked freelance delivering training for many different organisations nationally and working with others to develop strategies to ensure they are trauma-informed and inclusive and that the lived experience voice is understood and valued.
Before the change of career to mental health, Alex was a primary school teacher.
