Neurodiversity, Inclusivity & Peer Support
For too long we have seen minds that deviate from the ‘norm’ as being disorders and focused on the challenges they bring to individuals and societies. The Neurodiversity movement has been challenging this idea since the 1990s and seeks equality, acceptance and inclusion for people of all neurotypes. We are moving from Awareness to Acceptance and to do this we need to reflect on how we can make environments, places and spaces inclusive of all neurotypes and create the right conditions for neurodivergent strengths to be highlighted and people with different minds to thrive. Peer Support with its strengths-based approach, rooted in the values of mutuality, reciprocity, empowerment and hope, provides the perfect framework for a more inclusive workplace and world.
