Unpacking Quantum Threats: The Future of Encryption

24 Apr 2025
Keynote
4. Advanced skills

Quantum Computing is developing rapidly and has great potential to solve problems in science (battery design, new materials), financial services (risk, fraud) and logistics. Quantum Computers also pose a risk to the cryptography that secures all our systems and will mean an end to RSA and Elliptic Curve. We need to migrate our systems to new Post-Quantum Cryptography standards over the coming decade.

  • Cryptography is the foundation for enterprise security: “Why do we need cryptography anyway? Isn’t that just Signal?”
  • What is a Quantum Computer and what is the threat to cryptography?
  • New Post-Quantum Cryptography Standards (ML-KEM and ML-DSA)
  • UK NCSC Guidance on Post-Quantum Cryptography
  • Migration to Post-Quantum Cryptography. Some examples.

And no, you won’t need a quantum computer to be quantum-safe.
